Todd Clark

Todd Clark is a contemporary Canadian abstract artist known for his vibrant, tactile paintings that explore the interplay of light, color, and spontaneous mark-making. Born in 1963 in Calgary, Alberta, Clark grew up surrounded by the expansive prairies, an influence that continues to resonate in his work. Though he is self-taught as an artist, his intuitive approach to painting reflects a deep connection to nature and a lifelong passion for the medium of oil on canvas.

Currently residing in Gibsons, British Columbia, Clark balance his artistic endeavour with operating a small farm, along with his wife, Carol Marlowe.

His process is both playful and deliberate, characterized by a dialogue with the canvas where he responds to each brushstroke in the moment, embracing the unexpected while maintaining a sense of control. This balance of spontaneity and intention allows him to create works that feel alive, inviting viewers to experience the freedom and energy embedded in his art.
